Fishermen Album

Images from Japan taken from an album of hand-tinted albumen photographs produced for the tourist trade in the late 19th century. The album cover is black lacquer, inlaid with a design of two men and a woman fishing in a boat. This album includes images of ceremonies, priests, samurai, actors, people of various professions, studio portraits, dancers, wrestlers, rituals like harakiri, and examples of costumes.
