Eagle Album

Images from Japan taken from an album of hand-tinted albumen photographs produced for the tourist trade in the late 19th century. The album cover is black lacquer, inlaid with a design of a child being taken by an eagle. This album includes images of gardens, buildings, villages, ceremonies, priests, people of various professions, studio portraits, rituals, temples, and examples of costumes.
